Managing director Gordon Adie highlighted the latest technological solutions to an audience of industry experts ahead of a major Cisco conference.
Gordon Adie delivered an address to delegates in Montreal, Canada via TelePresence as part of a special event preceding the launch of the Cisco Partner Summit 2015.
The three-day conference – the largest event of its kind in Cisco’s annual calendar – is expected to attract more than 2,200 people, including Cisco Partners from across the globe.
Gordon was invited by Steve Steinhilber, Vice President of the Industry Solutions Group at Cisco Systems, to share his personal experiences of the Internet of Things (IoT), including Arrowdawn’s work with a key operator in the North Sea.
The energy giant selected Arrowdawn to overhaul and secure its process control network that sends critical metering data to shore. Following completion, the new system now provides increased security against unauthorised cyber threats, lower maintenance costs due to proactive end-to-end network management and a scalable network ready to support the addition of future technologies.
Gordon Adie said: “I’m thrilled to have been invited to speak at such a prestigious event in recognition of Arrowdawn’s standing in the global Cisco community and our team’s ability to resolve complex communications challenges.
“The broadcast proved to be an extremely worthwhile opportunity to share our company’s experience of using the Internet of Things in a real-life setting and outline the practical benefits for companies who engage with the technology. We see the technology, and the opportunities it presents, as a major part of our business strategy moving forward.”
An award-winning Cisco Premier Partner, Arrowdawn recently secured contracts worth £200,000 with companies in the oil and gas industry. Arrowdawn has won major contracts with North Sea oil and gas operators as well as international service companies.
Internet application usage has changed from a focus on email, web and searches to a focus on e-commerce and social media. Today, internet usage has moved into a new phase called the Internet of Everything (IoE). IoE connects people, data, processes and things. The Internet of Things (IoT), a subset of IoE, is the network of physical objects that are accessed through the internet.
